(I really liked this spead because of the hand rendered best mans speech this page however has more of an after effect/ scrap-booking feel. I think that the of what feel like real photos from the event mixed with items that may have belong in this reception fell. I am going to go back and remove a little more of the back ground from my wine glasses. )
(this layout has a few different forms of groom imagery...From the cute sticker cut out to a girl with a top hat looking like i dressed her in a tux..This gives my layout a little humor a playfulness. There is no other overlapping ,besides the girls, giving a more organized feel. I think the mix of full figures and closely cropped suits makes a well balance layout.)
For my book i have chosen a floral background and filled it with images from bridal magazines. How i decided to integrate text to my book through transparencies. This way if after our crit today i can make changes with out destroy the layouts entirely. I have also chosen to use a binder so that i can add and remove pages and add pockets for collecting more images.
Through this process i have learned that your first initial image findings are not always the best choses....for example i cut out about 12 different wedding dresses for the bride page. But after looking back i realized in all actuality they were all kinda of the same. This forced me think outside the box and ask myself what else represents bride and i thought of shoes and grader and purse. I think this gave my book a more variety and will give me more ideas to pull from later on.
I also think that i made a fairly bold design decision by trying to make my book mimic a wedding planner. I did this by adding pockets for extra information as well as some hand made list and post it reminders. As for my layouts i tried to keep it very clean and organized. I also wanted to make the whole feel of the book to be fancy and organized. I accomplished this through using the transparencies to label the connotations and denotations. It is very important for me to stick with the do it yourself playful wedding theme opposed to fancy New York Society wedding.

This is a great discovery! In fact, what you are talking about are indexes for the bride. The shoes, the veil, the garter are each items that can successfully stand in for bride. When rendering your icon of bride, work with these indexes alone. Can "bride" be communicated with a single accessory? Is an accessory an even more direct mode of communicating bride, than the entire ensemble?
