Vis Lang: class process and project clarification

As of class today this is where i am with this project. I am going in 2 directions
my logos desision is to create an invitation.
this invitation is include information such as the 9 studios and their addresses, it will also include an extremely simplified map of san francisco, then an abstract route if its recioeiant would like to visit all these studios in an evening. After my meeting with chris we talked about how it would be nice if the abstract route would be on a transparency and set on top of the simplified map. As for the cover i am thinking of using a typographic element that i found an example of in a gap ad. I will be posting later. This will be running text with no spaces and then call outs with color. As of right now i just have the studios repeating how ever after some feedback today i think that it would be nice the repeating words are like ( creativity, design, elements, structure) i will work on better word selection by friday. I also need to add some more information to the information because right now it has no date or time...im still not sure if i even need this.

as for my ethos design i decided to continue in 2 directions until i am instructed otherwise. These 2 ideas both include the same concept as work as proof. Then after i create this work as proof piece i will photograph it in the hand of the designer giving it credibility. My 2 different ideas are to do the spinning revealing wheel. With this wheel it will have the same kind of text embellishment on the top with 3 windows showing the studios name (right now i have the name and address but i feel that after today i will just put the name) then a piece of work from the studio and the art director or founder of the studio.

Im having a really hard time getting the underneath the piece worked out with the reveal windows to all line up. As for the other idea i would create a booklet of work. with 9 large numbers

Invite
In addition to an expansive word selection bring a range of color and typeface iterations for the running text.

The extra info should also include addresses since the map is more abstracted.

Proof
The wheel on its own (a real artifact) would need to function differently than it would within your concept (hands holding it). Right now you are designing with the artifact in mind when you need to design it for your poster concept. I believe the simplicity of the booklet will work more in your favor.

You do need to iterate upon the design of this booklet - you haven't pushed this far enough beyond your original digital sketch (composition, scale, color, grid, orientation, type).

So which do you choose to execute?
The proof "concept" without a doubt uses Ethos. But you have yet to evolve it from early digital sketch. This needs a wide range of iterations for 1 spread (and/or maybe cover) of the booklet as well as photographing the hands holding.

I'm not convinced yet that the invite appeals through logos - but with some additional copywriting (that frames the invite as a logical argument for why someone would go on this "studio tour") you can get it there.

Now you decide and bring that one with 20 wide ranging iterations to next class.
