The nine wonders of the world!

The theme of my book is the 9 wonders of the world. While flipping through the pages the viewer will see 9 different types of weather and the feeling/ moods that go along with each.

My image selection was based not only finding colors that are assosiated with the given weather and landscape but also elements found where that weather occures. EXAMPLE= drab is suppost to repesent a city that is overcast and dreary. So i chose a very structured dot composition that was supposed to immulate the tall buildings in the city. I  also used a very gray color palett with industrial images with no bright color in implicate happiness.

I used images that would accentuate the geographical landscapes or the place the weather would occure. The type falls aling the same lines. Such as pleasant, o have it arced to represent a grassy knoll to go along with the green pastures expressed thruogh the arced image composition. Eerie has a very weird and gloomy feeling and imagery . While the text feels like it is looming over head. I learned alot about scale and how you can infisize your point just as clear and with more detail than if it was zoomed out. Scaale also allows the viewer to be pulled into the composition without over wellming them. As shown in eerie i soomed into the tornado image so i could make the circles larger and more threatening. I also was trying to be to literal with some of my words and i found that by using more abstract compositions and images leaves the viewer to alittle bit of self interpertation with not such an obvious meaning. I would have probably used a different type of background paper because while the photo paper gave a nice affect it was very unforgiving and hard to work with.
I also learned that whole the images and type need to convey the word seperatly that they also need to seem cohesive and work together simotatiously. This can be done by similar weights or colors to help with the mood. I think i did this in bleak with a simply singular dot with sparce lettering.
overall i loved my book and am very proud of it...alot of blood sweat and tears went into the construction of this book. I LOVE IT

Amanda, good summation of the project. Especially when you describe why you made certain formal decisions. This is the type of specificity you should give in the verbal statement during final crit.
